Each beautifully hand-painted card is made by translating a person’s name into Arabic, taking 1 or 2 of the characters to create an abstract mini-painting. The opposing direction of the written text enables the words to lie in juxtaposition and take on a unique form of their own. Arabic is written right to left and English as we know, left to right. The beauty of the mini-paintings is their sheer simplicity.
